Home Learning in Reception
Whilst we are still unable to be in school, the Early Years team will put together a weekly schedule, with lots of suggested activities for you to choose from. These will be uploaded each week onto the Harcourt website, ready to start from Monday morning. These will include daily maths, phonics, and creative activities that we hope you will be able to set up at home. We have included links to online resources to support you with the maths and phonics sessions and photos to help with the creative activities. Please feel free to adapt these activities to best suit you.
You will also find documents to download to support your child’s reading and spelling of ‘High Frequency Words’. These are words that children need to learn to spell by heart. The Reception High Frequency words document is a list of all the words that the children learn whilst they are in Reception. The Read Write Inc Red words document are lists of words that have been grouped together to make them easier to learn. If you would like to practise reading and spelling these words, please start on the Red group. When you feel that your child is secure with reading and spelling these words, move onto the Green group, then the purple group and onwards.
It is important to stress that the Early Years team feel that the most important thing is a happy home environment for you and your child. The activities that we have put together are only suggestions for you to follow if you find it helpful. Please use as many or as few as you would like to with your child. Please do not feel that you have to use these activities if they don’t work for you in your current situation.
If your child would like to send a message or a photo of what they have been doing to Mrs Howard, then please use the class email address:
We hope you find these helpful and that we will see you all soon!
